Stem cell therapy is used to promote the repair of degenerative or injured tissue by harnessing the natural healing power of “mesenchymal stem cells” that form the musculoskeletal tissues in the body including bone, joint cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and muscle. The mission at Minnesota Regenerative Medicine is to promote natural healing using autologous cellular therapies to promote the natural cure and treatment of degenerative musculoskeletal disorders, to relieve pain, and to improve functionality and quality of life.
The Complexity of the First Stem Cell
Mankind in all of its wisdom, ingenuity and experience still cannot create a human cell or synthesize something so marvelous as a single fertilized egg. Ponder the marvel of a single embryonic stem cell depicted by our mother’s fertilized egg that over time becomes each one of us. A single cell becoming trillions of cells, each cell perfectly programmed to differentiate into the complex tissues of our body, each working together to create a healthy, fully functioning human being with motor function, special senses, reproductive capacity, and much more.
Our Role as Catalysts
At Minnesota Regenerative Medicine, while we are physicians and surgical specialists, we are mindful and respectful of our role as “mere catalysts” when performing regenerative medicine treatments. We realize that we cannot accurately predict the generative and regenerative capabilities of any of our patients. For each individual possesses a unique set of capabilities and limitations.
Renewal, Not the Status Quo
If we were all the same, races would not be run to find the fastest human! As time passes on in adult life, each human being experiences a slow decaying of its generative and regenerative capabilities. Regenerative medicine serves to restore and replete those capabilities when they manifest as pain, degeneration, and injury. By removing and reshuffling bioactive agents from surplus areas (fat tissue and blood), then deploying and replacing them into depleted, degenerative areas using isolated stem cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP), regenerative medicine is performed. Regenerative medicine seeks renewal, not the status quo. Regenerative medicine is not about exogenous treatment of symptoms of a degenerative musculoskeletal condition. Regenerative medicine is all about endogenous, natural healing of repair and restoration by allowing the body to tap into its reserve regenerative capabilities through the use of stem cells and PRP.
Our regenerative medicine specialist consults with each patient to customize a treatment plan specific to their needs, wants, and desired treatment results.
