Laser Hair Removal Overview
HCS MedSpa offers patients the gold standards in laser hair removal with the Cynosure Apogee Elite laser, a combination of Alexandrite 755nm and Nd:YAG 1064nm laser modules. This advanced laser hair removal technology, which may be used on Caucasian or ethnic skin, will provide you with effective results after several treatments, provided you are a suitable candidate for LHR.
Laser hair removal removes hair in the following areas:
- Bikini line
- Face & Chin

Due to the varying patterns of hair growth, a minimum of five treatments spaced four to six weeks apart are necessary to achieve permanent hair reduction. Although five treatments are usually required to produce optimal results, there will be a noticeable difference with each treatment.
Hair naturally grows in four to six week cycles depending on the location.
For ethnic individuals requiring the 1064nm Nd:YAG laser, ten or more treatments may be needed since the competing chromophore melanin interferes in LRH effectiveness in targeting the melanotic hair follicle.
The Cynosure Apogee Elite laser has a 1064nm wavelength module and is thus safe and effective for all skin colors. In general, laser hair removal done with a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser does not usually cause skin discoloration in darker skin tones.
Laser hair removal is meant to remove dark, melanotic, unwanted hairs. We find that white hair, gray hair, red hair, or fine blonde hair is most difficult to target and effectively treat with laser hair removal.
You may experience a slight tingly sensation during the procedure.
Laser hair removal treats the hair at the root and usually does not injure or thermally target the skin. The level of discomfort varies amongst patients. It is very important to abstain from sun exposure or tanning bed or chemical (artificial) tan or toner for at least two weeks prior to a laser hair removal treatment since melanin and chemicals may interfere with skin absorption of the laser energy.
