Hair loss is an unpleasant and embarrassing condition women and men experience over the course of their lives, some earlier than others. Wearing a hat or certain hairstyle or camouflage hair product to cover thinning or balding hair only masks the hair loss condition. Fortunately, HOGUE CLINICS has the most advanced and innovative regenerative medicine hair restoration treatments in Minnesota for hair loss using biologic agents.
The regenerative medicine hair restoration treatments at HOGUE CLINICS include the following: (1) platelet-rich plasma; (2) cytokines & growth factors; (3) ACell® extracellular matrix. The down time is minimal to none following a hair restoration treatment with biologic agents and scalp micro-needling. A customized treatment plan is available for each prospective hair loss patient at HOGUE CLINICS based on their condition and treatment preferences.

How Does Hair Grow?
Whether we are born with a smooth, shiny head, or a head-of-hair like Elvis, we are born with approximately 100,000 hair follicles. As we age, we naturally shed about 60 hairs a day, but the hair follicles remain. While it is a common misconception that hair shedding is the cause of hair loss, the hair-shedding follicles still remain active, meaning that another hair has the potential to regrow.
Hair growth is an ongoing three-phase process including anagen, catagen, and telogen phases. The anagen phase is the growing phase of hair, lasting anywhere between 2-8 years. The catagen phase is the phase in which some unknown signal causes the hair bulb at the base of the follicle to detach from the scalp. The telogen phase is the final stage of the hair cycle. Once this final stage occurs, the regrowth process starts over.
Why Do We Lose Hair?
Over time, hair follicles can become less active or they can become inactive altogether, leading to visible thinning and baldness. Men and women are both prone to what is commonly referred to as genetic pattern baldness of which roughly 70% of men and 40% of women are affected. While there is a multitude of reasons overall for why hair loss occurs, some of the more common reasons for hair loss include:
- Stress
- Pregnancy
- Heredity
- Androgenetic alopecia
- Certain health conditions, such as hypothyroidism
- Dihydrotestosterone
- Hormone imbalances
- Medications
- Tight, pulled-back hairstyles
About PRP, Cytokines & Growth Factors, ACell®, and Scalp Micro-needling
Regenerative medicine hair restoration using biologic agents is a non-surgical alternative to hair transplantation. These treatments are offered at HOGUE CLINICS for women and men suffering from hair loss, hair thinning, and early balding. Treatments are performed with lidocaine local anesthesia combined with inhaled nitrous oxide to allow for a completely painless experience during scalp injections of biologic agents and scalp micro-needling.
The level or degree of hair growth response to a hair restoration treatment with biologic agents cannot be guaranteed or known in advance since each individual has unique regenerative capabilities and causes for their hair loss condition. The clinical results may vary from individual to individual depending on hair loss causation and the individual’s regenerative capacity. At HOGUE CLINICS, the response to treatment following a single hair restoration treatment is evaluated at six months with post-procedure photos.
