Hair Restoration

Hair loss is an unpleasant and embarrassing condition women and men experience over the course of their lives, some earlier than others. Wearing a hat or certain hairstyle or camouflage hair product to cover thinning or balding hair only masks the hair loss condition. Fortunately, HOGUE CLINICS has the most advanced and innovative regenerative medicine hair restoration treatments in Minnesota for hair loss using biologic agents.

The regenerative medicine hair restoration treatment at HOGUE CLINICS includes the following: (1) Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP); (2) Biologic Agents; (3) Scalp Micro-needling. The down time is minimal to none following a hair restoration treatment with biologic agents and scalp micro-needling. A customized treatment plan is available for each prospective hair loss patient at HOGUE CLINICS based on their condition and treatment preferences.

Why Do We Lose Hair?

Over time, hair follicles can become less active or they can become inactive altogether, leading to visible thinning and baldness. Men and women are both prone to what is commonly referred to as genetic pattern baldness of which roughly 70% of men and 40% of women are affected. While there is a multitude of reasons overall for why hair loss occurs, some of the more common reasons for hair loss include:

  • Stress
  • Pregnancy
  • Heredity
  • Androgenetic alopecia
  • Certain health conditions, such as hypothyroidism
  • Dihydrotestosterone
  • Hormone imbalances
  • Medications
  • Tight, pulled-back hairstyles

About PRP, Biologic Agents, and Scalp Micro-needling

Man looking at self in mirrorRegenerative medicine hair restoration using biologic agents is a non-surgical alternative to hair transplantation. These treatments are offered at HOGUE CLINICS for women and men suffering from hair loss, hair thinning, and early balding. Treatments are performed with lidocaine local anesthesia for a completely painless experience during scalp injections of biologic agents and scalp micro-needling.

The level or degree of hair growth response to a hair restoration treatment with biologic agents cannot be guaranteed or known in advance since each individual has unique regenerative capabilities and causes for their hair loss condition. The clinical results may vary from individual to individual depending on hair loss causation and the individual’s regenerative capacity. At HOGUE CLINICS, the response to treatment following a single hair restoration treatment is evaluated at six months with post-procedure photos.

Benefits of a Regenerative Medicine Hair Restoration Treatment at Hogue Clinics

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous or self-derived biologic agent that is harvested from your own blood, so there is no risk of an allergic reaction or tissue rejection response. Biologic agents are purified non-cellular biologic agents. The clinical combination of these biologic agents during regenerative medicine treatments for hair restoration is a safe, natural way to influence the cycling of hair follicles, regenerate scalp vasculature, improve the function of hair follicles, and reverse the process of hair loss and hair thinning.

An elastic tourniquet is placed circumferentially around the scalp above the top of the ears to prolong the anesthetic block to ensure a completely painless hair restoration procedure. The entire hair restoration treatment with biologic agents takes approximately 90 minutes to perform. The treatment is done in a private, office-based setting. No oral antibiotics or special wound care is needed. Patients are able to drive themselves home following a hair restoration treatment.

Following a regenerative medicine hair restoration treatment at Hogue Clinics, your scalp will be rinsed in our procedure room sink and you will go home looking essentially the same as you did prior to the procedure. There will be minimal to no bleeding or down-time due to the rapid healing effects of the injected biologic agents. It is important and necessary to avoid taking any aspirin, NSAIDs, or blood thinners for 10 days prior to a regenerative medicine hair restoration treatment. Mild tissue swelling from the ring block anesthesia may involve the forehead and upper face area, along with the potential for mild bruising. A Velcro cloth headband is recommended to be worn for 24-48 hours to minimize facial swelling and edema.

Good Candidates

Good candidates for a Regenerative Medicine Hair Restoration treatment using biologic agents include the following:

  • Women and men who prefer a less invasive, more natural, non-surgical hair restoration treatment method to prevent ongoing and future hair loss, as well as to promote hair growth and thickening of miniaturized hairs and thinning hairs.
  • Women and men in the early stages of female or male genetic pattern baldness, or anytime there is an abundance of miniaturized or thinning hairs on the scalp.
  • Patients should be in overall good health and have no underlying blood conditions or autoimmune diseases that might negatively influence the treatment results.
  • Patients should be non-smokers, and avoid the use of aspirin, NSAIDS, and blood thinners for at least 10 days prior to a hair restoration treatment with biologic agents.
